Managing Director, Single Family Office
Sean Thibodeaux
I invest across private and public markets, primarily venture and growth equity, with a focus on mission-critical businesses where durable underwriting matters more than narrative. My approach is research-led and governance-aware. I size positions with discipline and underwrite the downside case explicitly. Conviction comes from deep diligence, not momentum. I underwrite first for what can go wrong before leaning into what can go right.
Eight years in a principal investing seat covering sourcing, underwriting, negotiation, board governance, and portfolio monitoring. I've also built the investment infrastructure alongside the portfolio itself: the processes, the reporting, the team. University of Chicago (Booth) MBA.

Operating Principles
Conviction starts with the downside. I pressure-test unit economics and focus on the few things that would genuinely break the thesis before sizing a position. The quality of the “no” matters as much as the quality of the “yes.”
Strong governance compounds quietly, and it’s where most investors under-resource. I negotiate information rights and protective provisions not as legal formality but as operating infrastructure. Good terms don’t just protect you when things go wrong. They give you options when things go right.
Management quality is a top-of-funnel filter, not a diligence checkbox. I want operators who can explain their unit economics without a deck and who treat investor capital as a constraint rather than a commodity. The economics have to work, but it’s the people who make the underwriting hold up.
